A Dutch court sentenced the owner of a crypto mixer to prison and called his argumentation “ideologie van maximale privacy” \u2013 an ideology of maximum privacy <\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Privacy and anonymity are under constant pressure. The court verdict<\/a> of a Dutch court against Alexey Pertsev of Tornado Cash is the latest alarm bell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His argumentation was called an ideology of maximum privacy and it was stated that his team did not consider other interests is simply absurd. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling privacy an ideology is usually used by authoritarian governments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And only because criminals could use your infrastructure does not mean it should not exist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This verdict is a #scandal<\/a> because it targets #anonymity<\/a> and #infrastructure<\/a> that provides it<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it is yet another example for
a.) people not understanding tech
b.) a #culturalchange<\/a> in seeing #anonymity<\/a> and not #surveillance<\/a> as a threat to #society<\/a> and #freedom<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you #criminalize<\/a> everything that can be used by criminals, you have to criminalize #drinkingwater<\/a> because there is scientific proof criminals drink it, too<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Or water companies as they are providing the infrastructure for the drinking water<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And you most definitely have to criminalise weapon industries because shocking news: #criminals<\/a> do use #weapons<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

#Anonymity<\/a> is a fundament of a #free<\/a> #society<\/a> not its enemy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anonymity is one foundation of #freedomofspeech<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

#Cash<\/a> is not traceable and that is how it is protecting anonymity from #surveillance<\/a> by governments and companies alike<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rights like freedom of speech were not given to us as presents – they were fought for<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we do not defend them – they will be taken from us<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like it was done in other countries<\/p>\n\n\n\n

#Defend<\/a> #encryption<\/a> , defend #anonymity<\/a> , and defend the idea of a free society from people who will rather strangle it with #surveillance<\/a> laws<\/p>\n\n\n\n
